Tv! Movies! Grimm!!!!!

Once Upon a Time

I'll admit, I'm predisposed to like this show. I'm addicted to fantasy and there aren't nearly enough TV shows or movies with a fantasy bent to fill my cravings.

First off, Cameron in a hot red dress kicking ass in heels = win. Every time I see a BAMF chick fighting in heels I have one of those 'really? really?' moments but I have to admit it is hot. There's something about heels that makes a BAMF female even more BAMF.

Rumplestiltskin! I think his is one of my favorite fairytales. He's deliciously crazy in this and I can't wait to see what they do with him. One day I will write something using the Rumplestiltskin tale...

Archie seems interesting. He has hints of potential adorkable.

Round table of fairy tales!!! Love it! Love it so hard! Though the fairy costumes had me wtfing a bit.

The Sheriff has a serious case of the hot.

Snow White's teacher haircut is not a good look on her. >.>

Grimm

I approve of this show just for the soundtrack alone. (Though the Manson cover of Sweet Dreams is still my favorite version.) Much like Once Upon a Time, I'm predisposed to like this show based on the fantasy elements alone. I'm a big fan of fairy tale retellings. I like that they started off with the Big Bad Wolf. Really neat how they worked in the obsession with red capes.

I love the use of sickles as weapons. Sickles don't get nearly enough fighting love.

I love the Big Book O' Knowledge and the fancy Germanic names for different types of supernaturals.

I want to write slash for this show. So much could be done with the werewolf - biting, marking, animalistic urges, all sorts of fun times. Plus the snark. Snark is love. There's a total possibility of 'this is my human' possessiveness.

The Three Musketeers

Pardon me while I drool. I adore the Three Musketeers. I absolutely love the Disney version with Chris O'Donnel (which explains why I love NCIS:LA so much) and this one was pretty close to that.

Milday De Winter was omg BAMF. I love her and all her awesomeness and I loved that they didn't try and redeem her. She's smart, she's hot, she's flirty, and she's full of super thief awesome. Seriously, the things she does in this movie and showing up all the boys... The clock fight was just wonderful in its timing.

I loved all the steampunk elements in the movie. Athos's ninja underwater gear and repeating crossbows. Airship battles! Zip lines. Powder and razor wire.

D'Artagnan was perfectly cocky. I love how flexible he is in the fight scenes. He cannot flip over/with people enough for my taste, or swing around on ropes, or nearly fall off roofs.

Christoph Waltz was delicious as Cardinal Richelieu. I just love his voice and the way he enunciates. He makes a wonderful villain and his Richelieu is simply lovely.

One major confusion in the movie was trying to figure out who Orlando Bloom was playing, since I knew he was in the movie, had heard rumor that he was one of the Musketeers, so at first I thought he was Aramis, then Buckingham showed up and I (and the others with me at the theater) were very confused. According to my friend Enk, he was originally cast for Aramis, then switched to Buckingham and they got a look-alike for Aramis. They look a lot alike. >.>

All in all, a rather enjoyable movie. Possibly going to see it again this week with the boyfriend since he missed seeing it with us over the weekend.

House

I really haven't decided if I want to keep watching or not. I rarely quit shows. It takes a lot to make me quit shows. (See CSI and the writer's strike garbage.) House is at that point. They really jumped the shark with the season finale. I'm used to House being an ass but this kind of went too far, throwing him from eccentric to dangerously insane. So far this season has yet to really capture me like previous seasons.

I find it really hard to believe Forman's promotion to Dean of Medicine. In terms of the hospital, he's relatively new. There had to have been dozens of people with seniority. There's no way Forman would have been promoted.

For a return like this, there needs to be some sort of sympathy. I have none. House has devolved from a somewhat sympathetic character to someone completely unlikeable.

About the only good parts of this season so far are House's subtle attempts to get back in Wilson's good graces.
